Most Irving residents know where Northgate Hill is located. They don't think about it too much, except when there is ice on the ground. I think the city usually closes this part of the road in those cases.
We used to come here and all but one of us would race down Northgate, turn right onto Country Club Rd, hustle up to Kings Country Dr and race down that hill. Thereis a 90° turn at the base of Kings Country and it was hardly unusual for one or more of us not to make the turn. I'm sure it was quite a sight for the people living there to see skateboards bouncing off the curb, sending their riders sprawled out on the neighbor's lawn.
The person not racing would drive the car behind us to keep traffic at a distance and then drive us back to the top. Whoever came in last, in each race, would have to drive the car on the next run. Needless to say, there was far less traffic on these roads, back then.
The cache is in Cottonwood Creek Park.
NOTE: Do not park along this route to reach the cache.
You will need to turn off on Village Green or go down Story Rd.
