Geocache Description:

A relatively easy walk to the Towers and optional sources of the
Final Coordinates including a letterbox.

N 41 27.090 W 073 09.679
Since Connecticut has become the letterboxing capital of the universe we decided to include our letterbox as an optional component of this multi-cache. (it is quite intriguing though why letterboxing has exploded in Connecticut- at a glance it looks like Connecticut has more than all the other states combined check it out) (visit link)

We closely reviewed the thousands of pages and volumes of the Official Federal and International versions of the Sanctioned Geo-Caching rules and regulations and could not find any rules against this so here goes.

Final Destination is Orenaug Fire Tower in Woodbury CT. This is an excellent tower with great 360 degree views. The walk to Orenaug tower is a nice easy slight uphill walk. This is one of the biggest towers that we have ever seen. Conversely the Southford Falls Tower is quite small.

Primary destination is Southford Falls Fire Tower letterbox or cache in Oxford CT or our Coyote Ugly Letterbox Hybrid. The above coordinates are for the Southford Falls Fire Tower cache.

To get the coordinates for the cache at Orenaug Tower you have three options:

1. Locate the Southford Falls Fire Tower letter box- A YJTB will be placed in the letterbox for the first cachers that try this option. (to our knowledge this is the first YJTB placed in an ordinary letterbox) The Orenaug Tower coordinates are on the cardboard backing of the letterbox log book as well as a separate page in a ziplock bag.

Our Letterbox Hybrid "COYOTE UGLY" GCRV4Z - will also have the Orenaug Tower Cache coordinates inside the cover of the log book and the inside cover of the letterbox.
(visit link)

2. Locate the Southford Falls Fire Tower cache- this cache contains only coordinates no log book or exchanges. Coordinates will be taped to the inside of a round tupperware container lid

N 41 27.090 W 073 09.679

3. Locate our Larkin Bridle Trail cache- the coordinates will be posted in the log book. N 41 27.905 W 073 08.618

There may be advantages or benefits to choosing one option over another.

Words of caution:
1. There are some steep cliffs and drop offs along the trail to Orenaug Tower– please be aware of this if you have children or dogs walking with you. Our own bad dog Jaime the Honey Wolf was on the leash for some of the time.

2. Also – unfortunately there is a considerable amount of broken glass at the bottom of the Orenaug Tower.

3. If you go to the top of the Tower at Orenaug the steel floor plates may buckle as you walk around. This may cause your heart to fall into your stomach.
