This is an easy 2 stage multicache that is handicap accessible and both parts are an easy stroll from your car. Total time to complete around 15 minutes depending on your finding the right parking.
This cache highlights the first European settler in the area of what is now known as Rolla.John Webber settled in this area around 1845 and built a log cabin, butcher shop and eventually a store. He was instrumental in the founding of the town of Rolla and the county of Phelps. He was also one of the 3 men who came up with the name Rolla supposedly a corrupted form of Raleigh NC.The first WP takes you to the Webber family plot where John, his first wife Eliza and others of the Webber family are buried so we are starting at the end and working our way back.To find the coordinates for the cache find John and Eliza's graves at the coordinates above and subtract 1022 from John's birth year and replace the xxx with it. Then subtract 1107 from the year Eliza died and replace yyy with that. 37 56.xxx091 46.yyyThis will take you to the cache location which is where John and Eliza began. The cache is a 6"x6" camo wrapped tupperware container with a log book, pencil and other goodies including a new collector mini Thunder token.Be sure when you do this cache to check out those that are nearest as there are 2 more very close and 2 within a short drive.Enjoy this historic cache and remember to be discreet when retrieving and replacing it and if you trade be sure to trade equal or higher value. One final thought: I have been asked by the city to report any acts of vandalism or suspicious activity in the cemetery so if you notice anything please email me at thunder_monk@yahoo.com and I will report it Thank You
