Geocache Description:

Bayo Canyon has a northern spur, with its head near Barranca Mesa School. The bench is the flat area between the mesa top and the canyon bottom.

There are two good access points, each about 0.4 miles from the cache. Start from the Gonzales Road trailhead on Barranca Road at N35 54.093 W106 16.908. Or start from the end of Camino Encantada at N35 53.855 W106 16.560; go east for about 0.15 miles to the junction: the trail straight ahead goes to a wonderful viewpoint (see below), the trail to the right goes to the round-about by the golf course (about 2 miles), the trail to the left goes to the Gonzales Road trailhead.

Take the time to hike the main trail to the far eastern end (N35 53.769 W106 16.248); the view is wonderful.

The cache consists of a large red plastic coffee container.. Initial contents included the usual trinkets and a Jeep 4x4 Travel Bug.
