The Notch Traditional Cache
Saber23: The cache container has disappeared; I live too far away to replace it. Let somebody else re-establish a cache in this location.

This is the notch in the rock that gave its name to rocknotch road
I picked this location because of its beauty. Make sure you bring a camera and check out the lookoff adjacent to the cache area. Also beware of steep terrain with small kids.
The cache is located on the edge of a river cascading through a small gorge. The trail leading to the cache is easy to hike and leads to a rocky knoll from where the view of the river and cascades is spectacular but as noted above, children should be supervised carefully because the terrain is steep to the river below. It is however easy to scale up and down the bank. No rock climbing equipment or special skills are required!
You may run into overnight campers in summer or other hikers as this is a lovely spot for a picnic. This place is generally not crowded but it shows signs of regular visits. It can also be seen from the other side of the stream, where you will find some cool ruins with a trail access from the Rocknotch Road. Be discrete when near the cache location so not to give away the spot.
The trail starting on Greenwood Road at the Gravel Pit entrance (N44.57.475 W064.53.516) provides the most interesting way to the cache area. Initially an access road takes you 600 meters by two sand pits (keep left) and comes to a trail head at the end of the driveable road. The trail was opened by mountain bikers if you can believe it. The next 675 meters to the cache area are easy enough to walk, but don't plan to bring a bike unless you are a real expert! After the cache, you may continue 380 meters on the trail to its other end on the Harmony Road, near the bridge. The trail entrance by the bridge at is a good starting point for families with smaller kids but again, keep an eye on the little ones near the steep hills.
Have fun and be careful on the rocks! Please make sure you replace the container in the exact same spot so that it can't roll downhill.
