Forgotten Railway #1 Traditional Cache

An easy drive-walk-to cache in the lower Blue Mountains.
This is Webguy Jnrs first cache and it is hidden just above where the old Lapstone/Glenbrook Funicular railway used to run, you can still follow the old route down the side of the mountain and not far from here you can see the old winding house bed. There were a number of funicular type railways used in the mountains, with the Scenic Railway a good example that is still in use today.
The Glenbrook Funicular railway was built to deliver the special red bricks down to the double tunnel that was being built at the time, this is the tunnel that is in use today. A now gone spur used to come off the old main line down to this area to carry the construction materials and the bricks, they were then offloaded onto the funicular railway and lowered down to the works area.
The cache is of the 1 ltr square type, not too big so small swaps are a must. There are many tracks in the area, so no need to bush bash at all, just find the right path and it is very easy.
If bringing geo kiddies or pups, keep them under a watchful eye as there are cliffs close by and some rusty barbed wire as well. The location is safe, providing you keep them confined to the GZ rock.
You may be seen from the track/stairs below, so have a good look around before you retrieve or replace the cache. Please be sure to rehide it well so no dope smoking local kids find it.
Keep an eye out for local wildlife, we saw one of those native self propelled pin cushions on our wanderings this morning.
There are a number of great views towards the city and back up the Glenbrook Gorge, so, bring a camera. But remember, no safety fences around here, so be careful.
There are plenty of other caches not far from this one so make a day of it.
