Geritol Sam brings you to a place that you may have driven by and not even noticed. Many people have ‘passed’ this way that were instrumental in settling our area. Names of note: William and Mehitable Hincher, first white settlers west of the Genesee River and Sam Patch, Lake Captain and famous daredevil (there is also a packet boat bearing his name). This is also the final resting place for many Revolutionary, War of 1812 and Civil War Veterans. The first lighthouse keeper also resides here. Take time to look around. Maps are available. If you are from the area, you will notice other names that are familiar to you.
The final cache container is small, (not quite a micro but almost) with no room for trade items unless similar in size to hat pins, small TB’s/geo coins, geo-george dollars, etc. The log is small too, with only room for the date and a small stamp or signature. BYOP (Bring your own pencil/pen.) There are FTF items should you choose to take them. Please be sure to secure the container lid tightly and replace as good or better than found and report any maintenance issues.
Bring the kids, let them learn a little about Sam Patch and the area, give them the GPS and let them do the math!
Locate the final resting place of Sam Patch’s remains, which were found the spring after he leaped to his death over Upper Falls and into the Genesee River. Friday the 13th was indeed his unlucky day!

We hope you have enjoyed this walk through time. Please be respectful of the area. Muggles are out and about so be discreet and stealthy. We encourage CITO, so please do your share.
