Welcome to Cooperstown!
Home of the Baseball Hall of Fame, and where Abner Doubleday is credited for inventing baseball.
Doubleday Field, which opened in 1939, used to play host to the annual Hall of Fame Game (exhibition between MLB teams), and now host to the Hall of Fame Classic and other events throughout the year.
This micro is located near the field. Please make sure the cache is not visible when rehidden as it has disappeared in the past. Also, bring a pen or pencil, to be sure you have something to sign it with.
After finding this cache, visit the town. You can see the museum, the park, shops along Main St., as well as other museums a short walk away. There are other geocaches spotted around the town and area, too!
Originally placed by marcc & laurie and then maintained by Luckless. Adopted by softbal29 in May 2019, but this cache will be maintained by a few members of the Stuck in the Middle Geocachers so it can continue on as one of the oldest and most-hit caches in the area.
Please don’t leave trackables near this one as they have disappeared in the past. The current cache isn’t big enough to hold trackables anyway.
