Geocache Description:

Put on your climbing shoes.. but the view is worth it!

Eagle Lake is just inside the Desolation Wilderness area to the southwest of Lake Tahoe. To get to this cache, there is about a mile's worth of hiking on the Eagle Lake Trail, and then it's off the trail for some of the most challenging cross-country scrambling. We were going to put it on the top of the peak overlooking Eagle Lake to the south, but decided that the terrain was a little too treacherous to try and make that climb. I do recommend staying to the left of the ridge as you go up from the lake, and expect to have to empty your boots out of the loose skree that accumulates. But once you get there, the cache is located on a magnificent (albeit small) overlook with views of Eagle Lake below, and Emerald Bay (Lake Tahoe) to the east. It is a real grind to get up there, but the view is worth it.The cache itself is inside a zip-lock bag, which contains a tupperware container for the log-book. Other items include small toys, golf ball, shuttle-cock, and other miscellaneous items.
