Geocache Description:

Not a hard cache. In Tombigbee National Forest adjacent to 'other' property. No problems with local residents however. They are very peaceful and quiet and ask only for your respect.

Noxubee Hill Cemetery is the actual name of this place.Cache is a standard ammo box filled with lots of small items.
This cemetary is an old one with many of those buried there related to one another in one way or another. It is also the burial site of several Whitten family members, including three who died in a family gunfight in 1908. As you enter the cemetary you will find several tombstones with the name Whitten on it. Look for J. W. Whitten and Meridith Whitten(father and son). Then look down the same row to your right and find Bossie. Bossie was the son of J.W. Whitten's brother and cousin to Meredith. To learn the details of this event (one version of it) go to (visit link) There you will find one version of what happened along with a complete family tree with photos of most of those involved. An aunt of mine was a member of the Whitten family but she would not talk about it to anyone. J. W. Whitten was her grandfather.
My Daddy, Mother and Brother are also buried here but unless you know me well you will not figure out which graves are theirs. (hint) Mother and Daddy are buried together and Brother is beside Daddy.
Please respect the cemetery property but also feel free to visit and see the graves of many born in the early 1800's as well as the graves of some buried recently. It is truly a quiet, beautiful, peaceful place to be laid to rest.
