Leisurely cache at Cobb's Pond Rotary Park, Gander.
Cobb's Pond is named after Mr. Alexander Cobb who was a worker with the Newfoundland Railway Project in 1892. Cobb’s Pond has a beautiful 3- 4 km boardwalk thatmeanders around the pond through wetlands and a forest composed of birch, aspen, fir, and spruce trees. It gets quite heavy traffic from locals and is about two kilometres off the Trans Canada Highway. Some contend it is among the longest lengths of continuous boardwalk in north america. Maybe.Keep your eyes open for beavers at work, a variety of mallards, and, in season, green frogs. The squirrels are quite surly. There is a floating bridge some 130 metres in length at one end that well recreates the feeling of trying to walk after too many beer. The cache is a white tobacco container. Given Gander’s aviation legacy, its contents tip the hat to that history. At time of placement, the cache includes:Vintage Air Nova postcardGander International Airport desk clockFine Air notepadNewfoundland Dog Christmas OrnamentVolga Dnepr patch and stickerAtlas Air Patch and StickerWilliams Gateway Airport brain puzzleYQX pinPlease ensure the cache is tightly fastened after discovery, as tobacco container have proved problematic.Have fun,Big Chomp-Chomp
