Historical Marker: Grave site of Colonel William Colvill and memorial to the 1st REG.MN VOLS, which he commanded.
Colonel William Colvill was the commander of the 1st regiment tendered to President Lincoln at the outbreak of the civil war and it served 3 years in the army of the Potomac during which time it engaged in the following battles and operations:Bull Run, Ball's Bluff, Siege of Yorkton, construction of"Grapevine" Bridge across the the Chickahominy River, Fair Oaks, Peach Orchard, Savage's Station White Oaks Swamp, Glendale, Malvern Hill, Flint Hill, Vienna, South Mountain, Antietam, Freddericksburg, Chancellorsville, Haymarket, Gettysburg, Bristow Station and Mine Run.Please respect this area, the cache has been hidden away from the grave site in the wooded area behind. You are looking for an M&M mini container that contains a log book, a pencil, $10.00 first finder prize, a childes ring and a screwdriver.Take some time and enjoy a nice history lesson.
