Geocache Description:

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A WRITING INSTRUMENT OR CLAIM THE LOG IS TOO WET THEN YOU MUST POST A PHOTO OF THE CONTAINER & LOG TO CLAIM A FIND.

LOCATED JUST PAST THE CAVES IN ST MARTINS ON THE WAY TO THE FUNDY TRAIL.

Halfway up Orange Hill at N45 21.649’ W065 31.396’ you will see a black gate that is always open. Pull in and park where the dirt road makes a roundabout then hike from there. As you near the coast you will be taking a trail to the left. Approx. 250’ in there is a Spruce tree on your left with large burls all over it (see photo). Just before this is a smaller trail or footpath to the right. I would highly recommend taking this trail, as it follows the coast and provides some spectacular vistas (please heed the warning signs and stay back from the edge). You can continue straight on the trail past the burly tree instead which is a nice walk through the woods but it is less scenic. The hike in is approx .64 mi by the recommended route.

The vegetation near the cache is quite dense but if you go about 100' past the cache location you will find a clear path leading out along the edge from the main footpath where you can see all the way across the Bay of Fundy. You can backtrack to the cache along this small path but the cache itself is probably easier to grab from the main trail in the woods. There is a rock ledge that runs below the footpath so even though you are on the edge you really aren’t in any danger of falling more than a few feet, it just feels like you are on the edge. The cache is a small camo'd PB jar that contains a pill bottle with a log sheet; no room for traders. The cache is wedge TIGHTLY between the branches, please make sure it is replaced the same.

THIS CACHE IS NOT WINTER FRIENDLY!!! PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE IF FROZEN!

AS ALWAYS, PLEASE LEAVE THE CACHE AS WELL OR BETTER HIDDEN THAN YOU FOUND IT!
