NW of Larned Kansas, Just West of Timken Road on a gravel road. Standard size Ammo Can.
This is my first cache placement. The cache is located near a maintained, dirt road, just west of a well maintained, paved county road, known locally as "Timken Road". "Timken Road" runs north from 156 Highway (west of Larned, Kansas) to K96 Highway (Timken Kansas). At the junction of Timken Road and 156 Highway is the remains of an old school house which in later years was used as a 4H Building. You can see it's foundation on the NW corner of the intersection. A correction line runs across "Timken Road" (several miles north of the cache) where many accidents occured when I was growing up. The owner of the land is a personal friend of mine and lives just south of the cache. Permission was obtained for the cache. No need to cross any fences, but walking through some tall grass or around small saplings is very likely for only a few short feet. Cache is close to the roadway, but cannot be seen from the road unless you know where to look. Didn't see any poison ivy, but thorny branches are prevalent. I lost the GPS signal under the branches, so you may have to project a course from the edge of the road. Cache is a SASO approved standard size Ammo Can. Contents include a large "First To Find Button" & "Kindness Currency" for the FTF prize. Other trade items are 5 smaller, different, geocaching buttons, squeeze light keychain, Texas Tornado Hockey stick ink pen, Wichita Thunder Blinking Flasher, kitchen measuring spoons, small stapler/staples, backgammon travel game, small dog figurine, and utility tool with pouch.
