Scripps Trail Loop
I have been wanting to do this cache for quite some time now and finally have had the drive to finish it. Here is another in the string of Scripps Ranch Loop caches. Hope you're enjoying them as much as I am making them!

The original name of the cache was Semillon Loop, but as you'll see, that isn't appropriate. The next name I entertained was Cedar Fire Loop. On this hike, you'll witness quite a bit of the damage done by the Cedar Fire that went through here in October 2003. But since I already had a Cedar Fire cache, I chose the Scripps Trail. It fits better than the rest.

Note: If you'd like some info on the Cedar Fire, refer to my other cache, Cedar Fire Rest Stop. I won't bother you with the details here.

While I was developing this cache today, I came upon the San Diego Blood Mobile on Avenida Magnifica. I have an appointment tonight at 6:45 PM to give blood at the Scripps Trails Club. Since there is currently a shortage of blood, I'd like to request that you all consider giving blood, San Diego Blood Bank, for more info.
Now, on to the cache: There is street parking near the starting coordinates. As you enter the trail, the house to the right of the trail head has a five digit address. Use that to figure out the second waypoint.
VWXYZ = the house address
A = X + Z - V
B = V + X
N 32° 54.70A
W 117° 04.81B
You can either bike or walk this route or even drive a good portion of it. I would not suggest driving, though. This loop is made up of very nice trails that you won't want to miss. Be good to yourself and experience this hike rather than simply drive to the waypoints. It is about three miles long so not too difficult but biking may be a little quicker.

At this next waypoint stands an eledctrical meter with an obvious five-digit number on it. Guess what? You'll use that to figure the next waypoint.
ABCDE = the five-digit number on the electric meter
F = E - A
G = E + C
N 32° 54.33F
W 117° 05.06G
Hopefully, you are actually out there on the trails. Along this final stretch you can't help but notice how the eucalyptus is making it's comeback. Normally, eucalyptus leaves grow near the tops of the trunks or near the ends of the limbs. Here, after the fire swept through, the leaves are growing lower and sometimes all up and down the trunks. It is a very interesting change.

At this final waypoint, you'll find another small wooden sign with a two-digit number on it. use that to determine the cache location.
AB = the two-digit number on the wooden sign
C = 10 - A
D = 10 - B
N 32° 54.7CD
W 117° 04.375
The cache, a camouflaged ammo can about 11" x 4" x 7", is located about twenty feet off the trail and shouldn't require any bushwhacking. If you don't find it within 10 minutes or so, please refer to the hint.

After logging your find and carefully rehiding the cache, use your GPS to return to the starting coordinates and your waiting car.

I hope this cache introduces you to another beautiful section of trails here in Scripps Ranch. Or that it reaquaints you to trails you might have forgotten. This was a very enjoyable cache for me to set up. The trails through here are simply wonderful.
