Geocache Description:

This cache represents one of the greatest sports rivalries of all time... between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox, of course!

Connecticut fans, without a major league team of their own, remain divided. The cache is located approximately halfway between The House that Ruth Built and Red Sox Nation.

As of this writing (heading into the 2004 post season) the Yankees have won 26 World Series championships and 39 American League championships. The Red Sox have not won a World Series since 1918.

Boston fans can't seem to get a break.... "this is the year" they are often heard proclaiming. Many say it all started with the sale of Babe Ruth to the Yankees at the end of the 1919 season for $125,000, hence "The Curse of the Bambino". The history between the two teams is rich, beginning with Babe and continuing: Thermon Munson and Carlton Fisk, Bucky Dent, Roger Clemens, Aaron Boone,A. Rod and more...

The cache is started with nice items - baseball cards for both teams (including, of course, Bucky Dent and Aaron Boone) team stickers, window clings, key chains, pencils, a new Field of Dreams video, pictures of Babe Ruth and other baseball related items. The Yanks or Red Sox? travel bug will be launched from this cache.

Please keep to the theme, or at least baseball related. By the way, this cache is primarily Katydid's doing, she is the diehard Yankee fan. So don't blame Miles Stone, he likes the Padres!

This is a short, multi cache located in Northwest Park in Manchester, not to be confused with Northwest Park in Windsor. Link
It is intended to be fun for families, and not too difficult. The total round trip is less than 1/2 mile. The first 3 stages are wheelchair accessible, but not the final.
The ball fields here are the home of the Manchester Silkworms Link and also used by Manchester High School and little league. There is a nice, boundless playground here; leashed dogs are welcome.

Snow will increase the difficulty of finding this cache, particularly part 3.
As always, we hope you Enjoy the Adventure!
