Finally! Another cache on the Pilot Penninsula on the East Shore of Kootenay Lake.
This cache allows the cacher to explore yet another of the trails on the peninsula. From Crawford Bay drive on Peters Road and park at N49 40.112 W116 49.852. If you start to drive uphill, you've gone too far. You will see a sign at the Woodlot Trail trailhead (August 25, 2010 - the sign is missing - look for the trail - it's a bit overgrown right at the road). The hike is approx 3 km. Follow the well maintained trail, as the GPS doesn't always work in the tall trees. There is one sign along the trail at approx 1.5 kms directing you to turn left to get to Height of Land - follow this. When you come out of the tall trees and into the dense bushes and small trees, you GPS will start to work again, and you will be getting close to the cache. You won't need to bush-whack to get to the cache. It's a great viewpoint, the cache is near-by. Enjoy the view.
