Located close to the Jefferson Wilderness area, easy access to a secluded mountain meadow and stream
This cache is dedicated to the book and tv movie "My side of the Mountain". As a young lad, reading this book captured my imagination of the exploits and adventures of a boy living alone in the mountains. This cache will take you to a high mountain meadow that I have visited and loved since I was a young boy in the 60's. As we traveled across the pass way back when, we would always stop here and fish. Sometimes we even camped here too :) The stream was abundent with fish, mudpuppy's and the ocasional otter. The meadow grass was as tall as I was and the days were always long and sunny. As I grew older I brought my children here also, we played Pooh sticks from the bridge nearby and fished the stream and played with the mudpuppy's (a water salamander with gills on the outside) that we caught like when I was young. There is still and occasional otter, but I have not seen one now in 10 years or more. These are the memories that I will always have of this magical place. I hope you visit this majestic place, pack a pictic and take the pole, there are still otter runs so if you fish the upper meadow be careful when near the stream, as with the tall grass you can not see them at times. The cache is an ammo can with normal goodies, a FTF certificate and starts with a TB drop. Easy acess from either highway 20 or 22. On 20 turn off at lava lake snow park around mile marker 78 and on 22 turn off at lava lake around mile marker 77 then follow your gps, You should end up at Parks Creek :) This place is snowed in when winter arrives.
