Geocache Description:

follow the Aztec trail, or is it the silk route?

Eric Von Daniken would have a feild-day here!
This area is proof that there was at least one race with knowledge of stonework and chemistry, before white man, and even aborigine called this land home.

Along the barely recogniseable cobbled pathway, ancient wheel ruts almost obliterated by modern bicycle tracks. through dense forrest that is reclaiming the artefacts, burying them for all time. then at the final turn you can see the majestic work of the ancients

This may be the previously undiscovered hiding place of the Aztec. After abandoning Matchu-Pitchu, they traveled by crafts, and speeds unknown, and began a new life here, on the central coast of NSW! wow!

As you follow the trail, keep an eye out for signs of advanced stoneworkings, and what could only be slab sided crypts exposed by the erosion of the hillside . (see pic) ancient calendars, carved in the stones, Still have not given up their secrets, but i have decoded their messages, many thousands of years have passed, recorded on the stone calendar as lines one above the other, as if to describe the laying down of one era over another like layers in the rock! ( see pic )

Strange glyphs also proved hard to decypher, but i think one is a very worn stylised crown, indicating the king of the Ancients resided here at some stage. ( see pic )

This is obviously Also the birthplace of standing stones, as is evident by the "practice stones" not quite standing on thier own , but leaning agains trees and earthen banks. (see pics)

The final and major work is that of the Grand Ancients sacrificial alter .Sadly, the Alters chambers seems to have been collapsed on purpose, possibly to seal out all and forever, from the magnificent caverns that must riddle the hillside. Leaving only the grand platform visible infront of the rubble, flanked by massive walls of prescision stonework. the cache is hidden opposite the grand alter platform.

What i first thought to be a pile of rubble ,ahas revealed itself to be a temple, which has also suffered the fate of the alter. it now lies in a collapsed pile.
Who knows what treasures it holds.

2011 update ! amazing, I have ventured into the area again, and on this journey I have uncovered an crumbling old map of the area. it was pressed between two standing stones that I had previously not investigated who knows what other items may still reside in catacombs yet uncovered.
I have uploaded an image of the map in hope that it helps others locate treasures uncountable.
