The HMAS Sydney memorial in Geraldton is one that is very close to my heart, as with the rest of my family. My mothers brother was serving on this ship when it engaged the German raider HSK Kormoran and was lost. A total of 645 men were lost from the HMAS Sydney when the ship went down.
The full story of HMAS Sydney is printed on the wall of remembrance, as well as the names of all 645 men who were lost in the battle, the state that they came from, and their position (job title) on the ship.
