It's not ideal, I know. But, it's the best I can do for now since I do not have control over the city webcams. Thanks for the heads up on the original link not working. And, thank you for your understanding. This webcam belongs to the City of Gulfport and is located atop the Municipal Marina building. The coordinates are for one of the presets. However, there are several locations you can go to for a pic. The camera has a span that goes from the boat launch to the parking lot to the west of the building.
What you will need:
· GPSr
· Cell phone
· A partner with a computer connected to the internet and a phone.
· (Optional) Anything you want to include with you in the pic to make it more interesting or silly. Think….your best Buffett parrothead impression or just a simple welcome to Florida sign. (You get the idea. Be creative). I am using this cache to vicariously relive my previous fun in the sun, sand, and surf existence from the beautiful (but landlocked) Rocky Mountain frontrange of Denver.
To claim the cache:
· Go to the above coordinates. They will take you to the fuel dock preset on the webcam.
· Call your friend and direct them to the webcam link· This will give them a choice of high speed and dial up pages. Obviously, they will need to choose the appropriate on for their connection.
· Once there they click the start control button and maneuver the camera to your position. If you go to the listed coordinates they can choose the Fuel dock preset on the cam.
· Once your friend finds you, they click the small camera icon on the bottom left of the webcam screen which brings up a new window with the pic. Right click on the new page and “Save as” whatever so they can send you the pic.
· When you post your “found it” log, be sure to upload your pic.
· Logs without pics will be swiftly and unceremoniously deleted. Please don’t log your find until your photo is ready for upload. Sorry, that’s the name of the game.
· There may be times when the camera/Gulfport website may not be operational. If this is the case I will disable the cache until it is operational again.
