Geocache Description:

Ge o trek; intrasitive verb; An outdoor activity typified by walking or hiking to a distant wilderness location or locations whereupon one commences a search for a geocache.

Have trekking poles... will travel? Searching for a new adventure? An adventure that combines route finding, a little map reading, backcountry travel, and geocaching? If so then you're a prime candidate for the 1st Annual Larry Klementowski Geotrekking Challenge. The cache is in place. The challenge is now issued.

If you’re quick you can still nab this one. Or if you like sleeping on the cold, cold… very frozen, ground, and then digging through the snow, this one will be one great adventure. If not you have 8 to10 months to plan your attack before you’ll get your next chance (it’s 10/10/2004 now). Oh… and guess what… there are no roads adjacent the cache and bikes aren’t allowed. I believe they call this a Wilderness Area. So it’s either hike in, ride a horse, or hit the So Cal parking lots for a few magnetic micros. Okay… now I know that this level of exertion automatically excludes about 90 percent of the So Cal geocaching populace. But for you 10 percent out there here’s a geocaching adventure that is actually worth bragging about! The cache is a white vitamin bottle (inside a large ammo can sitting out in the open under an overhanging granite slab) with a log book, pencils, and choice geocaching trinkets.

Fun Fact: On average the non acclimated person will lose 3% of their work capacity for every 1000’ of elevation above 5000’. You’ll only be down 27% max!
