Geocache Description:

This cache is located at Hamme's Mill in Warren County.(pronounced "Hammies Mill") Although I took my 6 yr. old son with me, I gave this a 2.5 for the terrain rating because of no clear path and a slight incline and a little overgrowth.

When you drive down to this cache, look for a fence with Hamme's Mill Taxidermy on it. Drive past this fence and there will be a small parking area on the left after you drive past the fence. Or you can drive right down to the mill and park anywhere in the graveled area. Please do not take the driveway to the left just before the fence. This is private property owned by Cliff Jackson, so please respect it as your own. You may want to wear an orange vest if you seek this cache during the weekdays and saturday during hunting season.(Oct. thru first weekend in Jan.) This is a rural county and people do deer hunt here. Please do not search for this cache at night. Feel free to look around the outside of the mill and be sure to walk around the back to see the dam. And if Cliff is around, I'm sure he will be happy to tell you about the history of the mill. Ticks, snakes and mosquitoes are here so be aware. Hamme's Mill was originally built in the 1760's and around the 1890's part of the dam washed out. Lee Hamme purchased the property in the 1930's and repaired the dam and removed some of the building made some additions and put the mill back into operation for some 50 years. One area of the mill served as a skating rink in the 1940's and also a dance hall. Cars use to line the one mile road from one end to the other on both sides just to go skating. This got to be too much for Lee to handle, so he stopped the skating. Feel free to post pictures of the mill if you would like.
The cache container is an ammo can and the original contents are: Word find puzzle book, Crayola crayons, Key chains, Spiderman lanyard, Silly putty, Yo-Yo, Small picture frame, Slinky, Deck of cards, Hide-a-key (magnetic), Log book, pencil, pen, and a first finder's prize
