A 1-1/2 mile hike up to the best perch in Oak Mountain State Park. A 600 foot elevation change. A king would find this view well worth the hike alone, but this cache can also be done in tandem with The Oak Mountain Rocky Top & Oak Mountain South Rim Caches.
Sit on the King’s (or Queen’s) chair. There’s room for both the King & Queen together here! The throne comes complete with a pillar pedestal overlook for the King’s Personal Guard. Been coming to this place for years & years. Such a good fit too. This is the best place to see the Red Tailed Hawk or Black Vulture floating on the breezes. Take a break, cool your thirst, sit on the King’s Chair, have lunch, & gaze in the distance.I never intended tell anyone about this place as it is my bestest & most secretest spot in the park. Off the beaten trail a bit, but thought some folks may want to visit during the AGA Meet & Greet. Cache is an ammo box chained to tree. Closest parking is at the North Trailhead at N33 21.451 W86 42.315. Begin on the Blue Trail.
