Mary Campbell cave Virtual Cache

This cache is temporarily unavailable.

caretaker5: I just got a note from a friend, and earthcache owner of an earthcache down the trail. It seems that the Summit Metro Parks just closed Gorge Metro Park until the dam is removed. No one is permitted to be in the park during the removal. I'm not sure of the timeline to complete that project, but I will look into it and provide updates when I can.

Geocache Description:

This cache was placed by damonation and adopted by me a couple days after I found it on its 17th birthday. Let's hope it lasts at least another 17 years! The sign that had the answer for the original proof of visit question is no longer present and has been changed. You may also want to read further into the Mary Campbell story with a google search, it has some surprises.

original description below, except the new proof of visitation question.

The cache is in the Gorge Metro Park in Cuyahoga Falls. The parking lot is off of Front St. @ N41*07.228 W081*29.603. Follow the signs for the Mary Campbell cave. This is truly a beautiful place! To get credit for the cache please email or message me the answer to the following question. Whose name is on the dedication plaque on the bench in the cave? The cave is named after a girl who was kidnapped by Delaware Indians in Pennsylvania and was held captive for five years until released at the French and Indian War's end in 1764. Their is much to do here. A picnic pavilion, a fishing dock, miles of trails and an ice skating pond. See the falls at N41*07.394 W081*29.836. This is a great place to spend the day. Please be careful around the rocks and obey all posted rules.

*****UPDATE*****

10-13-21 There is no sign pointing to the Mary Campbell cave, there is however a sign pointing to "GORGE TRAIL" and "OLD MAIDS KITCHEN" Both of those are out the gravel trail to the right. Failure to answer the question may result in in an inquire from me to see if you forgot to answer, and per geocaching guidelines will ultimately result in log deletion if no answer is submitted.
