This is a theme cache located on the BREIA Cross-Country Ski/Hike/Bike/Horse trails in Alder Creek, NY. First started as a temporary cache, it is now being placed as a permanent theme cache. The trails are free, and there is a warming hut not far from the cache, so bring a picnic to enjoy and make it an afternoon trip as you hike or ski to various other caches throughout the trails as well.
Vampires, ghosts, goblins, Beware
The Witch is stirring her brew out there.
The pot is bubbling, overflowing its rim,
The crone’s eyes glowing green under her brim.
The witch is up to some conjuring again.
With eye of newt, the cauldron flares,
Tails of worm, and ogre eye stares,
Wing of bat, fur of rat, and a single crow gizzard,
And yet to add to the brew, the toes of a lizard—
Toes of a lizard to give it its taste,
Toes of the lizard, she hangs from her waist.
Toes of a lizard…………Oh, NO! Where’s Gulliver?
Where’s our pet lizard?????
Hypnotized or mesmerized, has he been led away?
Is he about to become part of some witch’s soufflé?
Let us not dismay……..Geocachers can save the day!
Search out the witch, find the crone, taking great care,
A trick or a treat awaits to be found, if you dare.
The trip is so short, the way easy to find,
But the walk is no treat and the brambles not kind.
Wear long-legged pants if you have half a mind.
Now go find the witch, partake of her brew,
Take what looks good, and leave something new.
Worry not about Gulliver, deep in the cauldron,
For Gulliver is home and not on the run,
Though the witch is still there, left just for your fun.
