How Geocaching Works

This area is in the Sandia Mountains.
This cache was placed for my son's 15th birthday. He wanted to take his friends geocaching, so I placed 3 caches in the Sandia Mountains. This is number 3. All the Birthday cache hikes are less than one mile. I did visit the Sandia Ranger Station to see if it was okay to place caches and their response was as long as I didn't bury it. Also if deep trails start to form, I may have to pull them.
Stay on the trail until you are above the cache. You will get within 80 feet of the cache from below, but the scramble up the hill is not recommended. Take the next switch back and approach from above. I got off the trail when my GPS read 160 feet from the cache.
Park your car at N 35 12.052, W 106 24.320.
There is a nice little cave around here too.
