Geocache Description:

The Prairie Trail in McHenry County runs from Algonquin to the Wisconsin State line. It is built on an old railroad bed. I have placed three caches on the most northern part of the trail between Richmond and the end of the trail at the Wisconsin State line. This part of the trail is gravel and is excellent for hiking and bicycling.

The distance from the parking area in Richmond (N42.28.548 – W088.18.418) to the furthest cache is approximately 1.5 miles. The trail goes through Richmond 150 feet west of the parking area.

I do not recommend these caches in the wintertime when there is snow on the trail. This is a multi use trail and it is used as a snowmobile trail when conditions are right.

· This is the first of three caches.
· Pay attention to the name.
· You are looking for a waterproof match container.
This GEOcache is on McHenry County Conservation District land with permission,
The cache contains a log sheet and a pencil.
