New York Admin: Regrettably the owner has not responded and I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. Geocache Description:

This is our first cache. Enjoy a short walk in a peaceful area. Massapequa Park Preserve.

The word Massapequa is actually a very old Native word that predates European settlement. The Massapequa Preserve Park runs for almost four miles from Massapequa up to South Farmingdale. The park is notable for possessing the largest freshwater wetland system in Nassau County’s park system. Along with six lakes, it boasts a nearly 5-mile portion of two long-distance trails: the Nassau-Suffolk Greenbelt Trail and the Bethpage Bikeway. Its lakes provide a wonderful diversity of wildlife. The largest, Massapequa Lake (between Merrick Road and Sunrise Highway) is the place to see graceful mute swans, Canada geese and mallard ducks.

To get to the cache, you can enter the trail from either (400' west of) the corner of Sunrise Hwy and Lakeshore Blvd., or from the corner of Merrick Rd. and Ocean Ave.

The cache is an ammo can. It contains the following: Log Book, pen and pencil, one set of Redneck teeth, Mexican figure keychain, two cartoon character figures, French coin from 1854, Bead bracelet, 2 miniature Garmin etrex Legends (if your the ftf, please leave one for #2) and finally a "Poochini was Here" travel Bug. Enjoy a peacefull walk along the paved trail. From Sunrise to Merrick Rd. is about 3/4 of a mile. Cache is about half way, 50' west of the trail.
