Should be straigtforward in terms of terrain and difficulty except for the fire ants! Watch your toes! Located in an open, natural, and isolated area behind a public facility. Drive through gates to get to where you need to be.
The cache is an ammo box hidden within a managed wetland area which serves in the wastewater filtration and reclaimed water production process for central Brevard. Using the wetland for this "ecological service" saves money, resources, and chemicals. Another good example of this type of area is the Orlando Wetlands Park (in Christmas), which is the largest wastewater treatment wetland in the world to the best of my knowledge. Before proceeding to the cache, you are asked to sign in as a visitor at the wastewater facility once you enter the compound, it helps the land manager to understand how many people are using the area for recreational purposes. It's the first building on the left. No need to specify exactly WHY you are there of course...just looking around, right?? Permission has been granted to place the cache on site.
Also watch out for such beauties as the bale eagle, caracara, black bellied whistling duck, and the usual cast of waterfowl characters. Located at one of the premiere birding locales in Brevard County - make sure to bring your binoculars! The area is at its finest in the late afternoon or early morning sunlight. This is my first hidden cache...placed along with the guidance of my caching mentor, alkapukalup.
