Another cache for the Great North Walk. The views to and from the cache are worth the walk. The terrain rating is mainly for the first 500-600m. This is not one for young kids, grannies as the initial climb is not for the faint hearted. The track to the cache area is all fire trail. When you get close to the cache site you will be left with a few options - do I take the track or do I take the short-cut? Check out the surrounds near the site to see why the cache gets part of its name.It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to take water, sunscreen and a hat. Although the trackhead says the area is about 2 km away, it took us 30 minutes each way. I don't know if the water near the cache site is clean enough to drink but I wasn't going to try. This probably isn't one to do on a February lunch time either. For those inclined, camping is permitted but no open fires are allowed. Wildlife seen near the cache included 2 rock wallabies and a brown snake. Be warned. The co-ordinates were averaged over 15 minutes but could still only get an EPE of around 7. Any improvements to this will be greatfully accepted.Enjoy.
