THE OLD QUARRY Traditional Cache

Heard about this quarry from a friend who worked at a mine in the area, but he could not remember exactly where it was. He thought someone used the stone for a building in Carson City or Gardnerville. We asked lots of people about it, but no one knew anything. While looking at an old topographical map from UNR there it was --- a quarry on the old map. Tweaked our interest again, started asking people and found a lady in Walker, who had lived there all her life and she gave us some general directions and we found it. It is a small quarry but very interesting. At the upper part, there are veins of something that go from the road all the way to the top of the mountain. The road in is a rocky dirt road, and may require 4WD in a couple of places. The area around the quarry is all easy walking and the cache requires no hard walking. It is approximately 1-1/2 miles from Eastside Lane and the views are really something. In the winter snow on the Sierras and in the summer, very green round alfalfa fields. Not on the same road, but 1 mile as the crow flies is the Overlooking Topaz cache. Just some back country history.
Contents are the log book, cache page, TopazGeogoats cupel #1, crucible #1, American flag, Disney minipull back, eyeglass holder, anklet beaded, air car, key chain, Halloween cat stamp.
