Geocache Description:

FUN scale: 10+! Don't be discouraged by a "multi!" I guarantee this will be one of your favorites, and you will talk about it for a long time. ;)

This is the first in a series that will hopefully give you a taste of our local history, challenge your math skills, and most of all be “FUN!” I have also placed a container that will hold things besides business cards. Please, if you are going to take an item from the container, leave something other than pocket change! It would be great if you can leave some interesting pin, object, or novelty item - how about a lottery ticket?

I have used a Mrs. Fields round cookie tin for this one.

GOOD LUCK!

If you have navigated correctly, you should be located just to the west of a nice little park. We have planted a recording device somewhere in this park. The recording device will be easy to find as it is in the open. Push the button and listen to “The Voice” on this recording for a coded message.

The coded message will be the place where you can meet “The Voice” in person. Be advised that you will only be able to meet “The Voice” between the hours of 0600-1800 local time.

In the message “The Voice” will give you two years. The first year represents the minutes and seconds of the Latitude, and the second year represents the minutes and seconds of longitude. Use the following formulas to complete the coordinates of your next destination:

33° + A W 116° + B

A=[1st year × .001] + 47.035

B=[2nd year × .001]+ 24.533

When you find “The Voice” you must then find his best friend who will be very close by. You will know it is his best friend because “The Voice” said that “He was the best!” He will have two more coordinates to give you like the first one that “The Voice” gave. Use it in the following formula to find this fun cache:

33° + C W 116° + D

C=[1st year × .001] + 47.169

D=[2nd year × .001]+ 24.578

Use care when looking for the cache not to disturb the others. Besides all of the goodies in the cache, there is a very interesting article written by the Associated Press. It is laminated. Please read it, and then replace it in the cache before you leave. You will also find some post cards in the container. Please take one. On it are the coordinates for a place you may want to visit after finding this cache.
