Bridge to Nowhere Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

rjb43nh: I never knew why that bridge was just sitting there on dry land-maybe it was a 'spare'. I'm also not sure why it was removed as doogie_n_doggy reported-maybe it was in such bad shape it was a hazzard. The area has been completely cleaned up and only the cement bridge supports are left. They also, for some unknown reason, put up a new guard rail which blocks parking for fishermen at this popular spot.

So after 11 years and lots of finds, plus the container being washed away in a big spring flood one year, this cache is gone for good.

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Whoever said: “We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it”, wasn’t familiar with this one! You do not want to walk on, and absolutely do not attempt to drive on, this 80-foot long bridge; but if you are at the right location you will be able to find the “camouflaged” cache container without getting your feet wet. You do not have to go under the bridge and should be able to find the cache easily. The cache location is about 50 feet off a paved street in Dover, NH and you may see people fishing nearby in the Cocheco River during fishing season so be discrete. On school days there may be children close by waiting for a bus to pick them up in the early morning or drop them off mid afternoon so plan on avoiding the area during these times so you won’t be seen near the cache. There is ample parking in summer.

NOTE: A cacher has reported poison ivy around the bridge. I'm not sensitive to poison ivy so it isn't a problem for me and I never notice it but those who need to be concerned should take the necessary precautions around this cache, and all other caches for that matter.
