Unarchive a geocache

Archiving a geocache is meant to be a permanent action. Only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ can unarchive caches. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if the cache meets the current geocaching guidelines.

If a cache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance, it will not be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

The final location of this cache has been moved because it was in a flash-flood prone area. Originally, the cache was located beneath a bridge near Arthur Paxton Park, hence its name.

Although the final location has changed, I have managed to maintain a link to the name of the cache.

In the vicinity of the start location, look for two panels with information about two nearby structures.

From information on these panels, you will need to create two three-digit numbers, which to begin with, we will call ‘UVW’ and ‘XYZ’.

The western-most of these two structures has a two-word name. Ignore that … these places are usually known by a 3-letter word, so we will use that. ‘V’ = the 3rd letter of that word.

In 1840 this locality was the third to form a Town Trust. ‘U’ = the 3rd letter of the second locality to do so. ‘W’ = the 2nd letter of the first place where this occurred.

Something was created here in 1871. ‘X’ = the 5th letter of this word, ‘Z’ is the 6th . ‘Y’ = the 1st letter of this locality.

You should now have transformed ‘UVW’ and ‘XYZ’ into another two groups of three letters. Using the grid A=1 … Z=26, transfer the letters into numbers.

To find your next waypoint, multiply the ‘UVW’ number by 3, and subtract the result from your latitude. Add the ‘XYZ’ number to your longitude.

At this new location you will find another information board. On this board are three numbers; one with 4 digits, one with 3, and one with 2.

Using these numbers, you need to adjust your location (to find the cache) by first subtracting ‘ART’ from your latitude, where ‘A’ = the 2nd digit of the 3-digit number, ‘R’ = the 2nd digit of the 4-digit number, and ‘T’ = the 3rd digit of the 4-digit number.

Next you need to subtract ‘HUR’ from your longitude, where ‘H’ = the 3rd digit of the 4-digit number, ‘U’ = the 4th digit of the 4-digit number, and ‘R’ = the 2nd digit of the 2-digit number.

The cache is a small-sized lunch box.
