Birth of a Hurricane

This unimpressive looking little swamp is actually the beginning of Hurricane Creek. Hurricane Creek runs mostly east and west and almost the whole length of the Moss Rock Preserve. The nearby creek bed will be dry for about 1/4 mile unless there has been a recent rain to overflow the swamp. This is natures way of cleansing things. We tend to take water for granted. The water in this swamp has been used for cleaning or drinking and flushed down the toilet thousands upon thousands of times. Last month this water was probably Perrier water or maybe even in your back pack. Are you disgusted yet? I recently told a co-worker her coffee had been urine millions of times. She took another sip of coffee, looked me right in the eye and said, "I've been thinking for years you were crazy, now I am sure". She never did believe me and the fact water is recycled over and over. It's estimated that only one per cent of the water on the Earth is drinkable. Next time you take that simple drink of water say a short prayer of thanks.
Have fun looking for this cache, and don't worry, it's not in the swamp. Be careful if you venture around the edges. You may sink up above your shoes if it has rained recently.
