Geocache Description:

Should be a quick, easy grab in Olde Town Clinton. Sign says area closes at 9pm. Difficulty is 1.5 because the cache itself isn't wheelchair accessible.

This is our first hide - it's a plastic container camo'd to blend in with its surroundings. Logsheet only inside - bring your own writing instrument! Take a few minutes to walk Clinton's brick streets; at one time the city was the 3rd largest in Mississippi, just behind the port cities of Natchez & Vicksburg. It was once considered as a site for the State Capital (missed it by 1 vote - a representative from Raymond cast the deciding vote against). Now the streets host various art galleries, antique shops and more - including assorted festivals like the Brick Street Festival in April. The building just across the street from the cache served as an HQ for troops during the Civil War; now it houses various city offices. Two doors north of the cache is the gallery of a renowned watercolorist (we love just peeking in the windows there), and there's a great coffee shop just around the corner too. Plus, you're a short (2 blocks) walk away from a playground for the kiddies. Heck, you could stop and get a cup of coffee, cocoa or a Coke first, then relax in the courtyard tucked in between two buildings. This courtyard was a project of one of the 1999 Leadership Clinton teams.
