Kids Kastle is an all-wood, wheelchair-accessible playground located in Highland Village, north of FM 407 just off Briarhill Blvd. A community of volunteers, myself included, built it over six days in May 1994. In October 1999, vandals burned down most of the playground structure, but an army of volunteers, including myself, rebuilt and expanded the playground in May 2000. Summertime hours are from 7AM to 9PM. Wintertime hours are 7AM to 7PM.
This is a three-stage cache. Listed coordinates for this cache are for the entrance to the playground (first stage). You will need to determine the following to complete the coordinates for the second stage:
X = Number of baby swings in the playground.
Y = Number of regular swings in the playground.
Plug that information into this: N 33.0X.5(Y+1)0, W097.03.77(Y-1), and you’re off to the second stage, which is about a 0.3 mile walk. The walk will be mostly on a concrete trail. No brush or thorns will be encountered, but there may be a bit of mud if attempting after a rain.
At the second stage, you will be looking for directional clues to the third and final stage. Total walking distance for all three stages and back to your car will be around 3/4 mile.
Please keep in mind that this park is very busy on the weekends. It would be best not to attempt this cache during peak times and when the soccer/ball fields are being used.
