A nice spot beside the carpark to watch the world go by.
To get to the carpark, turn off SH1 at S 39 17.807 E 175 44.432 and follow the road for 6kms to the signposted carpark. The road is suitable for 2 wheel drives (the sign says so, so it must be true) but take it easy as it is definitely an experience in a small car. You can ignore the army signs as long as you stay on the road - it marks the Northern boundary of their exercise area and keep an eye out to the North - it is frequented by a herd of Kaimanawa wild horses.
Cache is a clear lunch box with logbook, stash note and assorted trading goodies.
