Here’s one for the railway history buffs. The Atlantic and Yadkin RR cache was placed to commemorate a railway that passed through the area near the cache site. You'll need the clues below to get to the final cache site.
This is a two stage multicache. The first waypoint will take you to a signpost that describes the history of the Atlantic & Yadkin Railroad. More information about the railway is availble Here. To find the final location you will need to fill in the coordinates using information on the sign. Only the last three digits of each of the North and West coordinates need to be decoded. The final cache is located at: N36 09.ABC and W79 51.DEF Where the following clues will give the values for A,B,C,D,E and F. A is the first number in the year the sign was placed by the Greensboro Chapter National Railway Historical Society. B and C are the third and fourth digits (respectively)in the year the Southern Railway took over the A&Y again. D is last digit in the year of the last scheduled train run from Greensboro to Mt. Airy. E is the last digit in the year of reorganizations. F is the second digit in the distance (in miles) of the railway after the reorganizations. Cache container is a standard ammo can. Terrain at the cache site is a bit steep, so watch your footing.
