First in a series of 3 caches placed in and around Denby Wood situated in a lovely quiet rural valley between Thornhill and Overton in West Yorkshire.
All caches are on public footpaths or bridleways in and around the valley and give a varied view of this area, from fields and pastures to wooded valleys. The paths involved require good footwear, as they can be boggy in parts and the steep bits slippery, especially after rain.
All three caches can be tackled from several points if you have an OS map of the area, but a good 3 mile round trip can be done by parking at the National Coal Mining Museum for England situated midway between Huddersfield and Wakefield on the A642 (N 53° 38.617 W 001° 37.179 - and the start location of my Caphouse Capers cache).
From the car park go 300m east along the A642 to the FP entrance at N53 38.725 W036.973 and then follow the GPSr across stiles and fields to DD#1, then through the wood and on to DD#2 and finally on to DD#3. After DD#3 continue on up the Kirklees Way through the wood and fields to rejoin the A642 about ½ mile west of the museum car park.
