Geocache Description:

Little know recreational spot along the Rapahannock. This cache requires a small climb.

This is a nice place to cool off during the hot summer. The water is usually clear and cool. However, also in the summer, plenty of poison ivy lurks along the bank. This is also a nice place to hike in the sping when creatures awake from hibernation. Park at N 38° 18.499 W 077° 31.712 and you have a 0.25 mile hike to the cache.

The cable crossing is used by USGS water monitoring personnel taking water samples as this is the official river gauge. See www.riverfriends.org site and click on "river levels" to see info. FOR volunteers are currently doing field GPS data collection to create a detailed river guide! Would be fun to cross on the cable. If you are on the Fredericksburg side of the river, you do not need to cross.
