Geocache Description:

Welcome to one of the many lakes in downtown Orlando! This cache is accessible without tramping any plants. Please bring some bread slices for the many ducks, geese, coots, loons, egrets and heron which live at the shore!

You're looking for a camo-tape covered beef jerky tube container, approximately 8 inches long, by 2 inches in diameter. Inside, you'll find a small logbook and pencil with room for some trinket sized items. There is a dollar bill with congratulations note for the "First to Find!"

About the Lake:

In 1870, James J. Davis, one of the area's first surveyors, settled between here and Greenwood Cemetery. This lake is named after him. Davis served as a trustee of the Lake Conway School and was a member of the Board of Public Instruction. The city established this road encircling the lake in 1926.

Lake Davis is actually one of several drainage lakes that are connected underground and which distribute the city's run-off storm/rain water. It was completely drained several years ago during the drought and cleaned. Once refilled, the migratory birds returned, and twice a year, baby animals of all kinds can be seen from the sidewalk encircling the lake.

Enjoy!
