Geocache Description:

Pleasant walk along a good trail - some small change in elevation if you do the entire loop.

Washington State University (WSU) is developing a system of trails east of the campus buildings called "Cougar Trails". Signs displaying the system of trails are located at several points on the trails. As of early August, 2005, most of the trails are complete with wood chips, some are dirt roads and some are still forest trails. The outside trails - the easiest and most developed - mostly go around the woods in a loop of about 1.5 miles. Four caches are hidden along this trail, three in this series plus Mill Creek. All are Rubbermaid containers located within 25 feet of the trails.

PARKING: In the daytime when school is in session, there is a delivery entrance to WSU off of 50th Avenue. Towards the campus about 1/4 mile from 50th Avenue there is a guest parking lot on the left for about 6 cars. This is the best place to start. You will be about 100 feet east of "Point E" on the Cougar Trails. The wood chip trail starts near the sign with a map.

When school is not open and the delivery entrance gate is closed, take the main entrance into WSU off of 134th Street and drive all the way through the campus to the Grey parking lot which is available without permit on weekends and evenings. You will be about 0.2 miles west of "Point A" on the Cougar Trails. Follow the road east down the hill towards the woods. Turn left on the road going towards the 50th Avenue entrance and you will come to a sign with a map and a wood chip trail just before the "Wildlife X-ing" sign. Continuing east about 0.3 miles past another map sign (Point F) will bring you to Point E - the other starting point.

This hunt is designed to be a circular loop of about 1.5 miles that will return you to your starting point. Starting at the sign marking either Point A or Point E, you may circle in either direction. Cougar Trails cache 1 will be the closest from Point E and cache 3 will be the closest from Point A but you can go either way. Good luck - enjoy the walk.
