High Gap In Low Gap Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Nomex: Hi
As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm temporarily archiving this to keep it from continually showing up in search lists. Just contact us when you have the cache repaired, [RED]and assuming it still meets the guidelines[/RED], we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Don't hesitate to email me via the link on my Profile if you have any questions. [red]Please be sure to include the cache name and GC Code, or better yet, the URL of the cache page.[/red]

Thanks for your cooperation!

Geocache Description:

Park at the end of Low Gap Road across from the High School.

The cache is at the far eastern boundary of this particular part of Low Gap park, so don't stray too far into someone's backyard!
The easiest route to the general cache area is to follow the paved road all the way through until you see a large backyard behind a tall chain link fence. From there, take a right up the dirt path.

READ FIRST: There are NO COORDINATES for stage 2. This is on purpose. Coordinates are useless in this area, anyway, so use your eyes, not your smartphone. DO NOT LOG A FIND unless you get to Stage 2.
___________________

Stage 1 location:
Coordinates will get you within sight of a boulder on the edge of the gully.

Optional activities:

This is off a nice little trail on which there is a "vernal pool" at this waypoint:
N39 09.555
W123 13.785

Have a look around if you've never been here before! Bring your discs for some disc golf - it's a nice, tight course with interesting elevation changes and obstacles. Walking up the asphalt path you will come to the children's playground where you can let the kids stretch their legs.

Just up ahead is the beginning of the disc-golf course, and if you continue on the right branch of the path you will get to a small archery range.

If you follow the signs to the "fitness trail," you will have a nice little stroll to a grove of young oaks near the rear of the park (the former location of another cache by our team called "Entmoot"), passing along the way a sundial.

This area was used as the city dump until the 50's or thereabouts and in some streams on the way to the archery range you can find buried glass bottles and other interesting junk from bygone days.

Low Gap was actually geographically altered in some ways in order to allow for more fresh air to come in and circulate through the Ukiah Valley. So enjoy the hiking and fresh, cool air.

There are 2 stages included in this multi:
Stage 1 is in a medium sized tupperware container with camo tape on the sides.
Stage 2 is an ammo can.

Keep in mind: the two stages are within close distance of each other, although not just a few steps... more like forty paces. I thought it would be more fun to search for the final using the clue, and like I mention above, coordinates can be useless in this kind of environment. In any case, don't stray too far from the gully!

Finally, please DO NOT log a find unless you get stage 2.

(Historic notes: This cache used to be a 3-stage cache with a micro hidden in a rock wall in the creek. Probably 4 out of 5 people could not find the micro, always claiming it was lost. Every time I went to check if it was still there, it was. I got tired of the endless comments about how "stage 2 lost, etc." so I just made this a 2 stage, making stage 3 now stage 2.)
