Geocache Description:

The Team Sandy Suspension Adjustment and Pinstriping Pro Shop (TSSAPPS) is the second in a series of caches, which highlight hide sites that are dedicated to 4-wheel drive vehicles. After getting positive responses from our first challenge, we have decided to take it up a notch and offer what we consider a terrain rating of 5. We hope it is as exciting for you as it was for us to place it.

4WD challenge #2 will take you on a 6.8 mile meandering sojourn thru the southern area of the Whetstone Mountains in the gentle terrain of southeast Arizona. Plan to take at least a couple of hours on this cache. The entry point for this particular cache is on the west side of state HWY 90, north of Whetstone, at N31 43.905 W110 21.037. As in our first challenge, please be mindful of the gates on Sands Ranch, as you will pass thru two to four on your journey. We highly recommend a decent topo map (we use ExpertGPS which can be found in the download area of the Geocache homepage). The actual route (and only route we might add) is a road that will take you to within 100 feet of the cache. The cache itself is a metallic blue ammo can with OFFICIAL GEOCACHE in yellow on the side, which is located under a bush and surrounded by rocks. As with Challenge #1, the cache is not easy to see, unless you are looking for it. We also recommend a picnic lunch, as there is a great area, which overlooks the valley, to stop at and grab a bite to eat. As for the vehicle of choice, we have made it to the cache on a 4WD quad and in a Jeep Wrangler with 31” rock crawler tires and 2” of lift. VEHICLES INCAPABLE OF 4WD WILL 100% NOT MAKE IT ALL THE WAY TO THE CACHE!!! LARGER 4WD VEHICLES MAY HAVE DIFFICULTY NAVIGATING VERY TIGHT AREAS!!! Would be great if teams could post pictures of their team and vehicle at the cache site with the cache box itself. For those that are concerned about if/when you get to the cache with your vehicle, there is room to turn around for your return trip. Good Luck, Happy Trails, and STAY TO THE RIGHT (or left depending on if you are going up or down!)

Since this cache is rated a 5 on the terrain difficulty, we decided to place a generous first finders award in it. There are also 10 serialized finder tags for the first 10 finders. Please take only one tag per team. Also included are several 4WD related items. We’d tell you what they are, but that would spoil the surprise.
