This cache is at the entrance to the Big Oak Valley in the Santa
Teresa County Park. Located on the Rocky Ridge trail, it is easily
accessible from the Pueblo group picnic area ($5 parking fee), or
could be reached from the free parking area at the end of Bernal
Road via the Mine Trail. The Rocky Ridge trail is the easiest (but
longest) route to Coyote Peak; at 1155 feet it provides great views
from the buildings in downtown San Francisco (on a clear day) to
Morgan Hill and Gilroy to the south.
The cache is intended to be a simple homemade wooden dollhouse,
but you might not recognize it as such with its camoflage. One side
of the "roof" opens to reveal the contents - the side that opens
has much less camo than the other 4. The cache can hold travel bugs
and other somewhat larger items - if you have oversized trinkets,
they would be more appropriate at the nearby "Geocache" cache.
Please keep to the "dollhouse" theme. Initial contents of the
cache are a very nice collection of miniatures that I won in the
raffle at the BADGES picnic. Thanks very much to Leggoes for the
cache contents, and the inspiration for this cache!! As always in this park, be on the lookout
for rattlesnakes, poison oak and mountain lions. There's no
visible poison oak near the cache, and no obvious snake holes,
but better safe than sorry. A map of the park is here: link
NOTE: Some folks say the coords are right on, but quite a number
say the cache is 20 feet uphill from the coords. Try both and see
which works for you!
