Over the river and through the woods. Under a fallen tree in this Lake County Forest Preserve. There are joggers and bikers in the area...so please be discreet. It is a green (metal) ammo box. Good for larger items.
I've just received word that there may be an admission fee for those who don't live in Lake County Illinois to enter this park. The park has a shack at the front gate. I've never seen anyone there, so I've never thought about it. You can get to this cache without entering the park throught the front gate. The following information is from the FP site for this park.
Hours and Admission
Independence Grove Forest Preserve is open daily from 6:30 am - sunset. There is a parking fee for non-Lake County residents of $5 per car Monday-Thursday, and $10 per car Friday - Sunday and holidays. Lake County residents can purchase optional vehicle stickers for convenience.
* Visitors Center and Gift Shop: daily from 9 am - 4:30 pm, except when otherwise posted for special events
* Café: Memorial Day through Labor Day. Monday - Thursday, 10:30 am - 4 pm, Friday, Saturday & Sunday, 10:30 am - 6 pm, unless otherwise posted
Location The Independence Grove Forest Preserve and Visitors Center are located in central Lake County near Libertyville. The entrance and parking area for the Independence Grove Visitors Center is located on Buckley Road (Route 137) east of Milwaukee Avenue (Route 21).
