Placed in a portion of the Campbell Creek greenbelt, this location is a piece of quiet in midtown Anchorage. About .4 mile one-way walk from Taku/Campbell Park trailhead (parking at N61 09.192 W149 52.746, at the west end of East 76th Avenue where it intersects King Street), with some off-path hiking required after the second footbridge.
Please enter greenbelt from Taku/Campbell Park, as all areas to the east and west sides of the creek and greenbelt are private property with no access. Trail users can enter from the north, but no parking is available in that direction for miles. Stay on the path until you've crossed the second footbridge... Anything else results in swimming or backtracking! Watch any children or dogs along with you closely, keeping them away from the creek. Flowing water with steep drop-offs at the bank here are dangerous.
WINTER & EARLY SPRING TRAVEL ADVISORY: STAY OFF THE CREEK AS THE ICE IS ROTTEN AND THE CREEK IS OVERFLOWING EXISTING ICE. TREAT THE STREAM WITH RESPECT - IT IS FLOWING WATER DEEP ENOUGH TO KILL YOU!
The container's a green camo GeocacheAlaska MiniBison. Keep this cache well-hidden as the area sees more traffic than you'd think! Watch for all manner of wildlife, tread lightly, don't disturb the riverbanks at all in any manner (they provide shelter for salmon smolt), and carry out all trash you find...
