The parking for the cache is located just off of Electric Avenue (thats where I came up with the name for the cache).
Total walking distance on this cache is under half a mile.
If you travel more than half a mile from the start point, then you have made a mistake in your calculations. Back up and start over.
NOTE: For all of the math needed to find this geocache you are doing the math on the last 3 digits. During this muliticache, the degrees and whole minutes don't change. Only the minutes decimals change (N48 45.??? W122 25.???).
Waypoint 1: Parking
At the parking coordinates (N48 45.744 W122 25.259) you will find a trail sign. On one side of this sign, there will be an arrow pointing to Blodel Donovan Park, and a stop sign. Look at the opposite side of this sign post and you will see another sign with a small arrow that points up. Count the number of letters in the first line of this sign, multiply it by 2 then subtract 1 and add it to your latitude.
((letters in first row of sign) x 2) - 1 = offset1
N48 45.744 + offset1 = N48 45.???
Next take the number of letters (don't count spaces) in the second line of the sign, multiply by 8 then subtract 1 and add that to your longitude.
((letters in second row of sign) x 8) - 1 = offset2
W122 25.259 + offset2 = W122 25.???
These coordinates will get you to waypoint 2.
Waypoint 2: Private Property Sign
To get to waypoint three you will need to do some more math on your current coordinates.
Using the coordinates that you calculated to get to this waypoint you will need to transpose the last 2 digits in the latitude.
N48 45.?XY becomes N48 45.?YX
Next the longitude. Count the number of letters on the Private Property sign (not counting spaces). Multiply the number of letters by 2 then subtract 9 and subtract that total from your current longitude.
((letters on sign) x 2) - 9 = offset3
W122 25.??? - offset3 = W122.25.???
You now have the coordinates to waypoint 3.
Waypoint 3: Another sign
At this location, you will find a number of signs on one sign post.
On the bottom most sign, there is a number. Take that number, multiply it by 2 and add it to your latitude.
N48 45.??? + (number x 2) = N48 45.???
For your longitude, count the number of sides on the sign containing a 4 letter word. Multiple the sides by 12 and add 1. Add that result to your longitude.
(sides on sign x 12) + 1 = offset 4
W122 25.??? + offset4 = W122 25.???
To make your way to waypoint 4, you should probably use the cross walk here to the north.
Waypoint 4: Do you need some water?
At this waypoint you will find a red and white object. Near the top of that object you will find a number which ends in 1/4. Take the first part of that number and use it for your calcluations
Latitude: Multiply that number by 17 and subtract it from your latitude.
N48 45.??? - (number x 17) = N48 45.???
Longitude: Multiply that number by 6, then add 1 and add that total to your longitude.
W122 25.??? + ((number x 6) + 1) = W122 25.???
To get to the next location, you will need to travel to a trail past where you were on waypoint 2. Don't forget the no trespassing sign. You don't need to go through the apartment complex. Go around.
Waypoint 5: Bird watching
Latitude: Count the number of letters on the sign prior to the word "Society", subtract 3 and add this to your current latitude.
N48 45.??? + (letters before Society - 3) = N48 45.???
Longitude:
Find any one of the following words on the sign, then subtract the number next to it from your longitude:
22 Mother
53 Father
35 Sister
59 Brother
W122 25.??? - (Number) = W122 25.???
Waypoint 6: A right turn
Latitude: Subtract 20 from your latitude:
N48 45.??? - 20 = N48 45.???
Longitude: Subtract 23 from your longitude:
W122 25.??? - 23 = W122 25.???
Follow the small trail down the hill until you get to these coordinates. It is near the water, but not in the water.
Waypoint 7: A view of the bridge
When you get to this waypoint, you will need to look to the east to see a bridge. On this bridge there are a number of pipes which can be seen from this position. The obvious one is the one that looks like a sewer pipe on the bottom of of the bridge. There are some others. Don't count the railing.
Count the visible pipes (not posts or pilings, but actual pipes) attached to the bridge.
Latitude: add 5 times the number of pipes to your latitude.
N48 45.??? + (5 x pipes) = N48 45.???
Longitude: Subtract 1 from your longitude.
W122 25.??? - 1 = W122 25.???
Waypoint 8: The Cache
Keep in mind that to get from waypoint 7 to waypoint 8, the shortest distance between two points is NOT always a straight line. You don't need to go beating around in the shrubs near the water line.
Don't look high, just look low. There are many places to hide a cache under a tree here.
